And on Wednesday evening, the “State Prize for Innovation” was awarded for the 41st time in the “Great Hall” of the “Erste Campus Wien”. The “State Award for Innovation 2021” was awarded to Rosenbauer International AG, the world’s leading manufacturer of firefighting equipment from Upper Austria.

Very innovative approach

Rosenbauer International AG was able to impress the jury with its highly innovative approach and technology. When firefighters and rescue services are deployed, priorities other than climate protection and digitalization usually apply. In order to continue to meet these requirements, Rosenbauer from Leonding awarded the corresponding vehicles a radically modern architecture.

Their “Revolutionary Technology” (RT) system introduces an electric driving concept that makes vehicles safer but also more agile. It is easier to use, although its emissions are lower than previous models. Additionally, the lighting concept casts fewer shadows and the overall vehicle noise level is lower. Although trucks are occasionally converted to fire engines elsewhere, the special focus on emergency vehicles in the 21st century is an international innovation.

Five other companies were nominated: Carbomed Medical Solutions GmbH (Styria) with the “breathe ilo” project, a fertility tracker for women using unique breath gas analysis, NXP Semiconductors Austria GmbH & Co KG (Styria) with the “Ranger 4 – Accuracy and Security for Intelligent Access” project ”, a smart and safe mobility solution for car access, Senoplast Klepsch & Co GmbH (Salzburg) with the project “Innovative, dirt-resistant furniture film and matte silk”, Tridonic GmbH & Co KG (Vorarlberg) with the project “Siderea – smart street lighting for smart cities and UpNano GmbH (Vienna) with the project “A new dimension in 3D printing (compatible with life)”.

As part of the State Prize for Innovation, the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKÖ) has awarded a special “Econovius” prize to small and medium-sized companies that feature particularly innovative services. WKÖ Vice President Emily Gross presented this year’s “Econovius” to Dr. Bohrer Lasertec GmbH for the project “Better than New.
