“Big in the USA”: Music from Switzerland seems to be well received in America. Many local singers are now starting in America. Bligh introduces three of them.
King’s Elliot (29)
Kings Elliott (29) from Altendorf SZ has been playing the biggest arenas in America since early August. The musician appeared as an opening act for American legends Macklemore (39, “Thrift Store”) and Imagine Dragons (“Believer”) and inspired audiences in arenas and arenas during 20 concerts. “I’ve never been in America this long,” says the Swiss native. Commitment is like being a knight. Shortly before that, she was signed by the American record label Universal Music, followed by a commitment to tour. “Only I can win,” Anja Gmur, known as King’s Elliot, said before leaving for America. In his songs, he addresses, among other things, the psychological challenges he has to overcome. They also accompany you on tour. “I thought my panic attacks would be better,” she says. But they’ve gotten stronger, “maybe because I’ve been away from home for so long.” Kings Elliott will play their last US tour next Thursday, and on Saturday they’ll be back on stage at the Radar Festival in Zurich. The London-based singer won’t soon forget his time in America: “I’m very grateful to have been able to experience it.”
Caroline Curdy (32)
Singer Carol Curti (32) from Kleinbösingen FR is recording her second EP in Nashville, Tennessee. For his dream, the trained primary school teacher, fighting for the support of the jurors in “The Voice of Germany” in 2017, broke all his tents at home, left his job and apartment. “I’m fully committed to my dream music,” says Curti, who is backed by well-known English music producer Nick Howard, 40, on his new seven-song indie pop record. “It’s a privilege to be able to record and work at this legendary venue,” says Curti. “America inspires me,” he says of the concerts he gives there. “Here everything seems possible for a musician.”
Charlie Whitmer (29)
He grew up in Zurich but has lived on the US East Coast for 20 years and was recently on stage at New York’s Madison Square Garden with swing superstar Michael Bublé, 46. “It was an unforgettable experience,” enthuses Charlie Widmer (29) about the concert in front of 20,000 fans. The son of a Swiss father and a Puerto Rican baritone voiced Josh Groban (41) and soprano Sarah Friedman (62). He was in high school in Greece. He got his first show business experience when he took on a leading role in the musical, and then appeared in the successful stage West Side Story. “I’m very proud of what I’ve achieved here,” says the singer and actor. And he will soon appear again in his old home country: on September 29 in Basel. In Das Geld”.
