Digitization doesn’t stop at museums either. FH Vorarlberg has now completed the “Digital In & Out” research project with the vorarlberg museum. If you wish, you can go on a virtual journey with the outstanding Romans and Baroque builders of Bregenzerwald with a free app.
Of course, museums live off their objects, but with digital technologies, history and stories can be experienced much better. FH Vorarlberg developed the app in collaboration with the vorarlberg museum in the research project “Digital In & Out”. The main focus has been on Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality (usually shortened to AR or VR).
Reality techniques are used
Augmented reality and virtual reality (commonly referred to as AR and VR, respectively) are reality technologies that augment or replace a real-world environment with a simulated one. Augmented reality (AR) enhances your surroundings by adding digital elements to your live view, often using a smartphone camera. Virtual Reality (VR) is a fully immersive experience that replaces a real environment with a simulated one.
The free app i.research
The free app i.research currently offers two virtual tours: In the tour through Brigantium, users can view buildings that were destroyed long ago as 3D objects. Historic sites are also listed on an interactive map. In the second round, you can enter a baroque cathedral with virtual reality glasses. Both projects have an additional voiceover.
