In the women's race, Sabine Schoffmann had to give way in the grand final to the outstanding Czech Esther Ledecka, who celebrated her third victory in her third start this season of figure skating. With her ninth podium finish (seven singles, two team) this winter, Carinthian finished the PSL World Cup in second place behind Ramona Hofmeister. In the overall standings, Schoffmann came in third place behind Hofmeister and Tsubaki Miki. With 639 points, the Japanese were only one point ahead of the Austrian.
“Winterberg is a good place for me, and it showed again today. I feel very comfortable on this slope. It is very nice to finish in the top three in both the parallel slalom and the World Cup overall. If I had not suffered a hand injury ( Broken metatarsal bone, note) so close to the two races in Poland, perhaps more could have happened. Now I want to have another good team race with Andy (Prommegger, note) tomorrow. “The goal is to make a podium debut,” he said. Double-digit wins in one season. Sabine Schoffman. For Claudia Riegler (13) and Daniela Olbing (15), the opening round in Winterberg is over.
