Fashion technology expert Miriam Haidar from Traberg (who works at Landestheater Linz) and refrigeration and air conditioning technician Simone Warschenhofer from Gallenkirchen (Hauser Company, Linz) mingle with more than 1,500 participants from five continents.
Seamstress Miriam, 20, qualified for the Austrian Skills Federal Apprenticeship Competition, which she eventually won. Now she wants to prove her skills at the WorldSkills Competition. What she loves about her job is the varied and creative work involved in making clothes. “With a little bit of craftsmanship, you can create unique pieces of clothing,” says the Traberg woman.
Refrigeration and air conditioning technician Simon (19 years old) was motivated by his boss to participate in the Austrian and World Skills Competition, and now he is looking forward to a fair competition.
Ready to compete
The third and final team seminar and the official farewell will take place on August 22 and 23 for the two and the other eight candidates from Upper Austria. The Vice President of the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce, Leo Jindrak, emphasizes the value of dual training in this country and praises the commitment of the participants: “These young people are a strong example of how continuous training, commitment and hard work can lead to outstanding achievements. They are living proof that the future of Upper Austria lies in the hands of talented and committed professionals.
