Ukraine Conference in Lucerne: Kamala Harris is coming

US Vice President Kamala Harris will attend the Ukraine conference next June 15 in Switzerland, according to the presidential office in Washington. According to information, she will be accompanied by National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.

China had previously denied that it was preventing other countries from attending the meeting. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said, “China's position is open and transparent, and there is absolutely no case in which we exert pressure on other countries.” Mao said on Friday that China's participation in the Swiss conference would be “difficult.”

Russia itself is not invited to attend the conference, but has also made it clear that it would not attend even if it were invited. Moscow aims to keep the event small and keep important partners such as China away from the conference. Recently, Saudi Arabia also announced that it would not participate. Austria will be represented at the summit at the luxury Bürgenstock Hotel near Lucerne by Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP).

According to the Office of the Ukrainian President, more than 100 countries and organizations have confirmed their participation in the meeting scheduled for June 15-16. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had invited China and US President Joe Biden to participate.
