The United States and the United Kingdom have again expressed concern over the deployment of Russian troops on the Ukrainian border. The British Foreign Office said after a meeting between Foreign Minister Elizabeth Truss and her US counterpart Anthony Blingen in Liverpool on Saturday that any incursion into Russia’s Ukrainian border would have “a strategic mistake” and “serious consequences.” The foreign ministers of the G7 countries meet there until Sunday.

Both were deeply concerned about the building of Russian troopsn expressed on the Ukrainian border. It said any invasion of Russia was a strategic mistake with dire consequences.

Practical solution

Prior to that, Truss had already met with new German Foreign Minister Annalena Barbox. The British woman reaffirmed the importance of the British-German alliance. Among other things, the two foreign ministers had a common goal of finding a practical solution to the dispute Agreed to the Northern Ireland Protocol which works for the people of Northern Ireland.

Germany takes over G7 presidency from Great Britain on January 1. Beerbock wants to present a German proposal for the chairmanship of the Council of Ministers.
