US Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign says she has collected a total of $540 million (about 482 million euros) in donations since the start of her bid. The group talked about a “record”.
Last week, $80 million was raised during the Democratic convention in Chicago alone. There was a huge outpouring of support after Harris' speech on Thursday evening (local time). Campaign manager Jen O'Malley Dillon explained:

After his speech, we had our best fundraising time since launch day.

Harris Group: A third comes from first-time donors

A third of all donations come from first-time donors, the Democratic group said. This suggests that Harris enjoys broad support among the party's base. Two-thirds of first-time donors are women, the panel continued.

The numbers cannot be independently verified initially, but only when the campaign committee submits its official financial report to the relevant authority.
