US presidential candidate Donald Trump has again expanded his hostile rhetoric against immigrants, accusing them of bringing “bad genes” into the country.

In a radio interview Monday, the Republican presidential nominee said his Democratic running mate, Kamala Harris, has allowed thousands of “murderers” into the country through her immigration policies. Many of them now lived “peacefully and quietly” in America.

Anti-immigrant rhetoric

“These murderers, you know, I think it's in their genes,” the former president said. “We have a lot of bad genes in our country right now.” The right-wing populist relied heavily on anti-immigrant rhetoric during the election campaign, insulting undocumented immigrants in every campaign appearance and announcing that he would order mass deportations if re-elected.

Migration and the situation at the border with Mexico, through which many undocumented people come to the United States, is one of the important topics of the election campaign. During his first term (2017-2021), Trump announced the construction of a 3,000-kilometer border wall with Mexico, which he did not implement.

A close election is predicted

Four weeks before the Nov. 5 presidential election, rivals Trump and Harris are in the polls in many places. Due to the peculiarities of the US electoral system, the election is likely to be decided only in a few states where the results are close.
