USV Neulengbach visits the Generali Arena

7 games and 5 wins – The Violets are still the only unbeaten team this season alongside league leaders SKN St. Pölten. On Sunday they will face Neulingbach Women in their final duel before the international break. The Lower Austria team had to accept a somewhat poor start to the season, but they managed to win their last two matches, including against third-placed Sturm Graz.

Neulingbach corrects a poor start to the season

The Vienna Woods team is currently in fifth place in the table with nine points, and coach Stefan Kenesi recognizes the potential of the Lower Austria team and expects a difficult match: “Even if Neulengbach does not go as planned.” Points at the start of this season, wait, I see them as a very good team and a contender for the top four, i.e. top qualifiers. I expect Neulengbach to have a boost in confidence after the recent win, and at the same time we also showed a very good seasonal performance with a 5-0 win over Altach.

“Everything is possible”

The Violets continue to chase down the league leaders St. Pölten and are currently just two points behind the champions. Recently they have managed to achieve confident victories against both Blau Weiß Linz / Union Kleinmünchen and SCR Altach. But last season, they were unable to beat Neulingbach: the matches ended in a 2-2 draw and a 2-0 defeat. Virginia Kirchberger still wants to keep the three points in the favourites: “We've seen in the past that if everyone really gives 100%, we can go on and dominate the game. Now we just have to take our chances and get there.”

Quarter-final draw

In addition to the joust, there is another special event on Sunday. The quarter-final draw for the Women's Sportland Lower Austria Cup will take place during the half-time break from 2:15 p.m. The quarter-final matches will be held on the 8th and 9th. February 2025.
