The Ministry of Health confirmed in a report in “Salzburger Nachrichten” that 897,000 people must receive a booster dose by February 1, otherwise their vaccination certificate will be invalid. As the vaccination validity is shortened from nine to six months after the second stitch, this would be a carrier for approximately 900,000 people in Austria. “We assume that by that time a large number of people will receive the booster vaccination,” the ministry emphasized.
No one should be surprised
In this regard, the Ministry of Health said, we will communicate this issue extensively over the coming days and weeks. And no one should be surprised by the expiration date. There was something similar at the beginning of January, when thousands of people got their one-time Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccination certificates invalid because they didn’t get a booster.
According to the Department of Health, 71,399 certificates of vaccination expired on January 3 due to the Johnson & Johnson’s validity adjustment. As of today, 60,044 of these people no longer have a valid certificate of vaccination, as they have not received any further vaccinations and therefore have not received a valid certificate of vaccination. Everyone else got a booster dose. A total of 355,927 Johnson & Johnson packages were inoculated in Austria.
