With the VI-Q series, subwoofer specialist Velodyne is releasing three new subwoofers that not only feature their own connection, but can also be easily controlled via an app. The three models mainly differ in speaker performance and size of the drivers.
Velodyne Acoustics VI-Q: The conduction-friendly bass specialists
The three Velodyne VI-Q loudspeakers, available from specialty retailers from May, are equipped with Class D amplifiers, high-efficiency switching power supplies and ultra-light carbon fiber diaphragm drivers. They’re sociable, because they can be loaded via XLR, RCA, and classic speaker terminals—and they even offer a 5V USB connection so that the V-Connect system, also soon to be available, can be powered.
Interested parties can choose from three versions with 10-, 12-, and 15-inch drivers and Class D output from 450 to 650 watts RMS. With this series of subwoofers, Velodyne relies on 50mm thick solid front sealed enclosures.
Not only can the 25-band (parametric) EQ be called up via the free iWoofer app, but also the room can be tweaked using the storeable preset options. Other setting options relate to cut-off frequency and phase position.
the prices:
- Velodyne Acoustics VI-Q 10-inch: 1,799 euros
- Velodyne Acoustics VI-Q 12-inch: €1,999
- Velodyne Acoustics VI-Q 15-inch: €2,499
