And brothers Veronica and Johannes Aigner were not stopped on Saturday in the first slalom of the season. At the start of the Baraski World Cup in St. Moritz, Veronika Aigner led to a double victory in the ÖSV ahead of Sister Barbara in the visually impaired women. In the case of the blind men, the victory went to Johannes Agner.
As in the giant slalom the day before, Veronica Aigner (with guide Elisabeth Aigner) set the fastest time in both slalom events. She finished ahead of Sister Barbara (with mentor Clara Sikora) by 8.67 seconds. Third was Alexandra Rexova from Slovakia (+12.15 seconds). “I can be really proud of a good start to the season. I’m excited to see what the next few days bring,” said Veronika Aigner.
Johannes Aigner is catching up
For the visually impaired guys, Johannes Aigner (with mentor Mathieu Fleischmann) was second after the first run, but then showed an excellent second run and still led to victory. The second was Pole Michel Jolas (+1.32).
Thomas Groschar provided another Austrian result with third place in the men’s standing. Carinthian finished third, 10.58 seconds behind Frenchman Arthur Bouchet. The second was Swiss Robin Cochet (+9.32).
