Vienna amateurs win the derby

In the 24th round of the Vienna State League II, Vienna's amateurs visited DSV Fortuna 05. With a convincing performance in the second half, Vienna fought back for an away win. With this derby win, we take big steps towards promotion.

Early goals from both teams

The game started with a bang. Al-Shabab took the lead in the second minute of the match. Baric played a deep pass as requested, passed the ball to Mahmudovic and took an early lead (0-1). But after only a few minutes, the home team equalized. After a failed defensive action by Spitzer, the ball reached the opponent's striker who played in the middle and unfortunately Schuster shot his goal (1:1). After 15 minutes, things got worse for Vienna. After their own corner kick, the opposition launched a quick counter-attack. With a bit of luck, the ball fell perfectly to the opponent he was running alongside and scored to give the home team a temporary lead (2:1). After that, the match calmed down a little. The blue and yellow team had several good chances to finish the match, but the ball did not want to go into the goal. So the deficit remained narrow in the first half.

Vienna takes off

At the end of the first half there was already a triple change from Vienna. Ayalew, Yankai and Piccinini came on for Nnamdi, Barrick and Kratochwil. These changes paid off early, with Vienna playing stronger than they had in the first half. Six minutes after the start of the second half, substitute Piccinini equalized. After a cross from the right side, the young striker positioned himself in the right position at the second post and shot into the net (2:2). After 58 minutes, Provolic came on instead of Mahmudovic in the attack. Shortly afterwards Vienna struck again. After a great combination on the wing, Piccinini scored again at the near post (2:3). Hoskovic made the initial decision in the 73rd minute. Funch sent the young midfielder in and converted the ball (2:4). After just two minutes, Brovolic finished the match. After a cross in the half-court, the striker broke free at the second post and scored (2:5). Before the end of the match, Lorenson replaced Hoskovic, but nothing changed in the result.
