Even forty years after its initial release, the Commodore C64 is still very popular. New products can always be found on different crowdfunding platforms, especially for craft projects. One of them comes from Australian manufacturer Retro Fuzion, and it's the new case for the C64 on the portal IndieGogo For sale.
Essentially, the case called the “Breadbin Case” uses the overall look of the Commodore 64, available in different colours. Potential buyers can choose between several attractive hues, such as bright red or green; But more subtle versions in beige and gray are also available. The typical C64 rainbow is usually found in the upper left corner of the case, but instead of “C64” it has the letters “RF64” (for Retro Fuzion 64). If necessary, users can secure an additional array for the power LED located on the upper right edge of the chassis.
The crowdfunding campaign is active until mid-March, with a firm target of around €47,000 to start production. One bread box costs €82, and the LED set and breadboard cost an additional nine euros each. If the financial target is met, production of Breadbin boxes should begin in December of the year.
