Former Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn will be heard in mid-February as a witness in the test case brought by investors in the diesel scandal against Volkswagen and the holding company Porsche.
Winterkorn has been summoned to appear on February 14 and 15 (10:00 a.m.), the Higher Regional Court in Braunschweig announced on Friday.
His successor Matthias Müller and Herbert Diess are also expected to testify as witnesses in the civil proceedings. Dees is scheduled to be interrogated on January 16, the Regional High Court also announced. Mueller was invited on February 7. Other possible dates for the witness hearing are February 27 and 28. The negotiations will take place in the conference hall of the municipality of Braunschweig.
In another case, four Volkswagen managers have been detained in the Braunschweig Regional Court since September 2021. The case against Winterkorn, who resigned after the diesel emissions scandal was revealed in 2015, was cut short due to his health condition. It will continue soon.
In September 2015, it was revealed that Volkswagen had falsified measured values using hidden software codes instead of using more expensive exhaust technology. These tests ensured they were completely cleaned, but emissions were several times higher during road use. The revelation of the scandal plunged Volkswagen into the worst crisis in its history.
VW's preferred stock eventually fell 0.32 percent to 111.80 euros via XETRA.
