The National Team's break is over, and the very hot phase of the Win2day ICE Hockey League has begun: the White Team has only five matches left to play in the regular season. The Eagles, currently in sixth place, want to win tomorrow, Tuesday, in Asiago (Bala Hodgart, start: 7:45 p.m., live on Live.ice.hockey and with live broadcast on Kärnten Radio Eishockeymagazin). The next step is to remain firmly in the top six and thus secure direct qualification to the play-off. New signing Maxime Golod will make his debut in a VSV shirt!
In the previous season, Asiago was a new addition to the league – the white team's record against the Italians is very positive: the “Eagles” won six of the previous seven encounters. Eye-catching: They were all high-scoring matches, but often the scores were very close. The “Eagles” last won in Asiago at the beginning of November with a score of 3:4 after extra time. Dylan McPherson scored the game-winning goal.
The Blue-White have used the break extensively over the past few days to work mainly on running and tactics, but also on the system. EC iDM Heat Pumps VSV coach Marcel Rudmann: “Now comes the most important time of the year, as the qualifying time for us starts at the latest. The players recently had three days off to rejuvenate and clear their heads from ice hockey for a little while. After that we trained Strong and intense and we have prepared ourselves well for the upcoming tasks. Asiago is a strong team, but we have to win, without conditions or reservations. We know what we can do and we want to get the three points tomorrow with a coherent and strong style of play!
One member of VSV coach Rodman's team is particularly looking forward to tomorrow's match – new signing Maxime Goulud, who will form an attacking line with Andrew Desjardins and Maxi Rebernig, is excited about his debut: “I'm really looking forward to my debut.” Match for VSV. The team and the entire organization have welcomed me very well and I also know that a lot is expected of me. I'll give it my all. I heard that Asiago is a dangerous team, and the matches so far have been very close and competitive. We have to be fully focused from the first minute, and play quickly, strongly, physically and effectively, then we will get the three points. Of course it would be great if I scored in the first match, but the most important thing is that we win.”
EC iDM Heat Pumps VSV head coach Marcel Rudmann could call up the entire squad tomorrow, Tuesday, in Asiago, with only Felix Maxa being a doubt due to a lower-body injury.
