The Germans' other opponents, the vice-world champions in 2023, will be joined by Denmark, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Norway and the United States as co-hosts in the group. Co-hosts Sweden, Austria, world champions Canada, Finland, France, Latvia, Slovakia and Slovenia also play in the second group in Stockholm.
After losing in last year's final, the team of national coach Harold Kreis lost in the quarter-finals (1:3) against Switzerland in the Czech Republic. Germany fell from fifth to eighth in the world rankings.
