First of all, the similarities: Xiaomi 12 Pro and Xiaomi 12 have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Both have a 50W wireless charging system and a 150Hz AMOLED display. Both models are available in purple, gray and blue.
Small and compact: Xiaomi scores 12 in its format
The main difference between Xiaomi 12 Pro and Xiaomi 12 is the size. Xiaomi 12 is the right choice for fans of small and compact smartphones. The display is 15 cm long, 69.6 mm thick, and weighs 180 grams, which makes it much easier than its predecessor Xiaomi 11. For comparison, the Xiaomi Dax 12 Pro weighs 205 grams and has a 17 cm larger screen. But the camera and screen have also changed a lot compared to before.
While the Mi 11 has a WQHD resolution, the Mi 12 has a much weaker FHD resolution. With the front camera, the Xiaomi 12 is technically equipped with a 32MP camera better than the 20MP Xiaomi 11. The new model can also score with the better processor. Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro are inferior to Xiaomi 11 in terms of the main camera. Mi 11 has a 108MP camera, while its successors only have a 50MP main camera.
Eye comfort and display: the strengths of Xiaomi 12 Pro
The Xiaomi 12 Pro clearly distinguishes itself from its predecessor and from the Xiaomi 12 when you look at the screen. The 12 Pro has a WQHD+ resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels, while the Mi 12 has a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels.
With illumination ranging from 1,000 nits to 1,500 nits and a display size of approximately 17 cm, the 12 Pro offers special eye comfort. For comparison: the brightness of the Xiaomi phone is 1100 nits. With Adaptive Sync, the 12 Pro can adjust the LTPO display from 1Hz to 120Hz for swipe or swipe operations.
Camera and sound experience
While the Xiaomi 12 has a 50MP main camera, a 13MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 5MP telephoto camera, the Xiaomi 12 Pro has all three cameras of 50MP. The front camera for both models is 32 MP. The thing about both models is the Pro mode when taking photos, where you can easily set the ISO value or focus yourself, among other things.
More experienced photographers can play here. While Xiaomi 12 Pro has quad speakers, Xiaomi 12 has dual symmetrical speakers.
Battery charging time and other tools
Xiaomi 12 Pro has 50W wireless charging power. With a cable, it has a battery with a charging power of 120 watts, and therefore it can charge much faster than the Xiaomi 12, which has a charging cable of 65 watts. Both models also allow easy access to the most frequently used Google apps and thus have a clear advantage over Huawei products. Both phones also record 8K videos and have a night mode for getting beautiful photos even in poor lighting conditions.
Conclusion: Xiaomi 12 Pro or Xiaomi 12?
If you like it at your fingertips and don’t mind the loading time being a bit slower, you should opt for the Xiaomi 12. The display quality is marginally worse, but this is hardly noticeable with the naked eye. Even with the camera, the difference is minimal. However, if you prefer a larger screen with more brightness and a shorter loading time, then you should go with the Xiaomi 12 Pro. But you have to go deeper into your pocket than the Xiaomi 12. While the Xiaomi 12 is available from 899.90 euros, the Xiaomi 12 Pro is only available from 1149.90 euros.
