XMG Focus: a new generation with more power and more width options

At IFA 2022 in Berlin, XMG is upgrading its entry-level Focus series laptops to the new generation M22 and is now putting them in a higher performance category. While the FOCUS 15 and FOCUS 17 are based on an IPS display with a Full HD resolution and a refresh rate of 144Hz, the FOCUS 16 offers up to an IPS panel with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels in a 16:10 format. It’s also slightly brighter at 400 nits and covers 95% of the sRGB color space.

Despite the significantly increased performance, the XMG FOCUS (M22) remains completely portable. Depending on the screen size, it weighs between 2.05 and 2.6 kg and has a height of 23.9 to 25.0 mm. Above all, structural changes in the cooling system are said to have made this possible.

As usual, the buyer can choose from a wide range of well-known manufacturers of the rest of the technical equipment. Up to 64GB of DDR4 RAM can be accommodated in two SO-DIMM sockets and two fast M.2 SSDs. The battery has a capacity of 54Wh and is installed internally for easy replacement.

On the connectivity side, USB-A and USB-C are offered twice, with the port on the right also supporting Thunderbolt 4. HDMI, miniDisplayPort, Gigabit Ethernet, and even a microSD card reader are also available, as well as two separate headphone connections. If desired, wireless connection is possible via Killer-WiFi 6E. LED backlit rubber dome switches, with 15 different lighting colors to choose from. The touchpad is compatible with Microsoft Precision measuring up to 150 x 90 mm.
