Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Berlin yesterday. He wants to open the international conference for the reconstruction of his country there today with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
In the afternoon, the president of the country attacked by Russia also wants to deliver a speech in the German Bundestag. This is his third visit to Berlin since the Russian invasion began more than two years ago.
“In light of Russian air terrorism, urgent solutions for the Ukrainian energy sector will be our top priority,” Zelensky said. He wanted to talk with Shultz about further defense support, expanding Ukrainian air defense and joint arms production.
Coordinating positions before the peace conference in Switzerland
Positions must also be coordinated before the peace conference scheduled for June 15-16 in Switzerland. Meetings are also scheduled with Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Bundestag President Barbil Bass. Zelensky also wants to visit a military base where Ukrainian soldiers are trained.
About 2,000 representatives from politics, business and international organizations are expected to participate in the reconstruction conference. It is not a donor conference to raise money for reconstruction, but rather about networking among relevant actors.
