Zillertal home cooking shakes up Danube Island festival

What do Wanda, Wolfgang Ambros, Semino Rossi, Christina Störmer, Ronan Keating, Peter Kraus, Thorstein Einarsson and David Hanser have in common? That’s right! They were all highlights of this year’s Danube Island Festival, which was attended by more than a million visitors. On the one hand, stars of the national and international music scene on 14 stages and 17 themed islands rocked the 4.5-kilometre-long festival area, and it was David Hanser who caused a stir with his Zillertal home cooking specialities and was the first Tyrolean company to make a splash in the catering sector at the major event.

“It’s simply indescribable,” said a tired but cheerful David, who told the Zillertaler Zeitung how it all happened after three more than intense days of action. “After our successful efforts at the Nordic World Championships in Seefeld, I had been itching to do it again for a long time to be at a big event once again. It became the biggest event in Austria – the Danube Island Festival! The first discussions took place in October last year. 400 companies signed up for three companies!!!! The advertised vacancies. In fact, there was almost no chance! And yet. And suddenly the confirmation came in April 2024. From that moment on, there was only one motto for me and my team: full throttle! And it was worth it.”

During the three days of the event, hundreds of Tyroleans and Zillertal residents could be found at the Zillertal home cooking booth “for a snack”. David was particularly pleased that our neighbours to the east were particularly enthusiastic about the Zillertal specialities. It is therefore not surprising that the Danube Island Festival organiser gave David a strong commitment for next year during the event. That sounds a lot like a “culinary advertising vehicle for the city of Zillertal”, doesn’t it?
