Zuckerberg: Musk has not yet agreed on a date for the fight

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg remains skeptical that tech billionaire Elon Musk will engage in a cage fight with him. After Musk declared that the fight would have to be fought against a historical backdrop in Italy, Zuckerberg remarked Saturday night: “If he ever agrees to a real date, you’ll hear from me.” Until then, the following applies: “Please assume there is no agreement on anything that is claimed.”

Musk, the Tesla CEO, also wrote on Friday that he needed surgery for a problem in his right shoulder, from which he would need several months to recover. Zuckerberg, 39, trains with martial arts instructors and is visibly fitter than Musk, 52. A few days ago, the head of Tesla wrote on his electronic platform X (formerly Twitter) that he lifts weights at work because he has no time to train.

On the other hand, Zuckerberg posted an image on his contest app X Themes that showed him in a practice match in an octagonal cage in his garden. “I love this sport and have been ready to fight since the day Elon challenged me,” he wrote.

Musk had claimed on Friday that the fight should be hosted by the tech billionaire founders and not by the UFC. He spoke to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Culture Minister Gennaro Sangioliano and they promised an “epic site” for the fight. Sangioliano explained shortly afterwards, however, that it would not be Rome.

The possibility of a fight first surfaced in June. Musk challenged Zuckerberg, who agreed. After the initial publicity, a radio silence followed, leaving many skeptical that tech billionaires would ever gather in the ring.
